Features to be considered when developing a product
-Function: A product must be fit for purpose, which means that ti must be capable of doing the job that it
is sold to do. Ex, waterproof jackets must be waterproof.
-Cost/economic manufacture: A well-designed
product is easier to produce and sell at a profit.
-Aesthetics: products must be well presented.
THE DESIGN MIX AND SOCIAL TRENDS
-Design for waste minimisation: Products that use a lot of energy and other resources in manufacturing should be designed to be more durable, Products could be designed to be smaller and lighter. To help to save the amount of material used in production. Not design single use products.
-Design for re-use: Resources can be saved fi products are designed so that they can be re-used. Ex, packaging.
