Principles Of Training Flashcards
What does S.P.I.F mean?
S= Specificity P= progressive overload I= Individual needs F= F.I.T.T
What is F.I.T.T?
F= Frequency (how often) I= Intensity (how long) T= Time (how long) T= Type (method)
What does Specificity mean?
Matching training to the requirements of an activity.
What does Progressive Overload mean?
Working at a higher range of intensity than the minimum threshold of training.
What does Individual Needs mean?
Personal fitness needs based on age, gender, fitness level and the sport for which we are training.
What does F.I.T.T enable?
The F.I.T.T principle enables you to plan an exercise programme to get the most out of it as safely as possible.
Overtraining
Overtraining happen when you train beyond your body’s ability to recover.
Reversibility
Reversibility means gradually losing fitness instead of progressing or remaining at the current level.
Rest and recovery
The human body reacts to a hard training session by increasing its ability to cope with future punishing training sessions.
