What is a pustule?
turbid fluid (pus) in cavity, circumscribed & elevated (confined to limited area)
What is a cyst?
encapsulated fluid-filled cavity, in dermis or subcutaneous tissue, tensely elevating skin
What is a bulla?
larger than 1 cm, single chambered, superfifical in epidermis, thin-walled, ruptures easily
What is a vesicle?
elevated cavity containing free fluid, up to 1 cm
ex. blister
What is urticaria?
wheals coalesce to form extensive rxn, intensely puritic
What is wheal?
superficial, raised, transient & erythematous, slighly irregular shape
ex. mosquito bite
What is plaque?
papule coalesce to make surface elevation, wider than 1 cm, plateau like, disk-shaped lesion
What is papule?
can feel, caused by superficial thickening of the epidermis, solid, elevated circumscribed, <1cm
ex. mole
What is a tumor?
larger than a few cm, firm or soft, deeper into dermis, benign or maligant
What is a nodule?
solid, elevated, hard or soft, > 1cm, can extend deeper into dermis than papulae
What is a patch?
macules >1cm
ex. measels rash
What is a macule?
Color change < 1 cm
