PRESSURIZED FLUIDS Flashcards
Unit 9 - Fluids Under Pressure
What are the components of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems?
Pump - forces fluids through the system
Conductor - the pathway to carry the fluid
valves - they keep the fluid out of where it shouldn’t be
pressure gauge - monitors pressure within the system
Why are gases more easily compressed than liquids?
Gases are generally a lot less dense than liquids, and thus have more compressibility. If something is less dense, there is more space to compress
What does Pascal’s Law state?
Pascal’s Law states that a force applied to a fluid is distributed equally through all parts of the fluid
What is a water particle made of?
A water particle is made of 2 Hydrogen particles and an Oxygen particle, giving it the name H20 (Hydrogen X 2 + O)
