PRESSURIZATION Flashcards
What cabin altitude will the system maintain?
6000 ft
How many outflow valves and what are they called?
2
Cabin vent valve
Baggage vent valve
Do the outflow valves have independent controllers?
Yes. Dual channel with only one channel active at any given time
Which outflow valve is considered the master valve?
Cabin vent valve
What is the function of the nose cone fan?
On the ground, the nose cone fan provides ventilation of the nose cone.
Which are the pressurized areas in the airplane?
Nose cone
Main cabin
Underfloor
Baggage area
Can the baggage area be isolated from the main cabin in case of fire or depressurization?
Yes
How many baggage isolation valves are there?
2
At what cabin altitude does the cabin vent valve command the baggage isolation valves to close?
14200 ft
What happens to the cabin air jet pump when the baggage area is isolated?
When the baggage compartment is isolated, the “cabin air jet pump” located downstream
of the BAG Vent Valve is not fed anymore. The cooling of the main pack heat exchangers
is left to the ACM (less effective at high altitude)
How is the underfloor area ventilated in the air?
In flight, through the dedicated underfloor evacuation duct.
How is the underfloor area ventilated on the ground?
On the ground and in low-altitude flight, through a dedicated duct to the ambient air
and through the CAB Vent Valve
How many independent channels does the cabin vent valve have?
2
Each channel of the cabin vent valve is connected to its associated DC motor. True or false?
True.
The two motor inputs are transmitted through a planetary differential gear system to the output shaft and the butterfly plate.
If one channel of the cabin vent valve controller fails what happens?
It automatically switches to the next one.
What is an additional function of the baggage vent valve in regard to air pack?
It provides airflow for the main air pack cooling
When does the ground vent valve automatically open?
1 minute after landing if the cabin vent valve is fully open
OR
6 minutes after landing if cabin vent valve is not fully open, as in abnormal operations
What are the 2 laws for the automatic mode of the pressurization system?
Normal and Flight level law
What is the cabin LOW rate option?
Cabin altitude LOW rate of change option, can be activated to limit the rate of change to lower values: +300 / -300 ft/min instead of +500 / -450 ft/min.
What is the cabin altitude limited to weather in manual or auto mode?
14500 ft
In MANUAL mode, the BAG Vent Valve is not regulated by the CAB Vent Valve anymore,
nor by the CABIN ALT knob. True or False?
True
While in manual mode, Bag vent valve can be manually closed or opened using the BAG VENT pushbutton on the Overhead Panel. True or False?
True
When the BAG Vent Valve is closed, how is the cabin air jet pump fed?
Cooling is then only provided by the ACM
fan, which is less effective above 40,000 ft
What happens when you press the DUMP button?
- Opens the CAB Vent Valve to exhaust cabin air to the atmosphere in less than 30 seconds.
- Freezes the BAG Vent Valve in its last commanded position.
Which are all the valves that close when the system detects a depressurization?
Cabin vent valve
Baggage vent valve
Baggage isolation valves
Does the number two engine provide fuel tank pressurization?
No. Only number 1 and 3 engines
What valves do the BAG ISOL switch close?
Baggage isolation valves - 2
Baggage outflow valve - 1
What valves do the GRND VENT switch close?
Ground ventilation valve - 1
Recirculation valve - 1 ( if not already closed by 14000 ft)
When in manual pressurization mode, what valve are you directly moving?
Cabin outflow valve
