FLIGHT CONTROLS Flashcards
How many spoilerons?
2
How many airbrake panels?
4
How many total spoiler panels are there?
6
What are the different flight control laws?
Normal
Alternate
Direct
Backup
How many primary flight control computers do we have?
3
How many secondary flight control computers do we have?
3
What is the BACKUP flight control law?
Completely different and independent fly by wire system from the normal system. They do not talk to each other
Max pitch attitudes?
35 up and 28 down
Is pitch manual trim available in the air?
No only on the ground unless you loose autotrim.
How many ACMU do we have? Actuator Control And Monitoring Unit,
4
Are the sidesticks mechanically linked?
No. They are held on by magnets.
If you tug on the sidestick hard, will it disconnect the autopilot?
Yes
If you move one sidestick, does the other sidestick move?
No
When do you get a DUAL INPUT cass message?
If you move both side sticks in the same or opposite direction
What is the function of the priority button on the side stick?
To get priority for your side stick and disengage the other one.
Which is the only flight control surface that is electric on the falcon?
Horizontal stabilizer
How many motors are on the horizontal stabilizer?
3
What trim is set automatically when you select flaps 1 or 2 for takeoff?
6 units
After landing and flaps are retracted, what is the trim repositioned to?
0 units
When you are using the pitch trim switches, which pitch trim motor are you using?
Back up trim motor
Is auto trim functional below 50 ft?
No. Airplane automatically stops trimming below 50 ft
What are you doing when you push the trim disengage button?
Stopping power to both of the pitch trim motors. Manual trim motor is still functional
Is manual pitch trim available after pushing the trim emergency button?
Yes. It only stops power to the 2 main stab trim motors
How many aileros?
2
How many spoilerons?
2
How many slats?
6 total
The middle and outboard slats are tied together. True or False?
True
What does the backup slat switch do?
Manually force opens the middle and outboard slats
What is the slat inhibit speed?
Slats inhibited above 210 kts
Do all slats come out during an auto slat extension?
No. Just middle and outboard slats when you exceed a certain angle of attack. But they will not if your speed is above 260 kts so they wont get damaged.
How many flap panels are there?
4
What happens when a flap asymmetry is sensed?
Flaps stop right there
Which is the airbrake setting that can modulate?
Airbrake 1.
Airbrake 2 is just full up or full down
When you apply airbrakes 2, do all 3 panels come up?
Yes. Including the spoileron
How many flight data concentrator units are there?
5
Explain the path of data to the flight controls?
Pilot input - Data Concentrator Units - Primary Flight Control Computers - ACMU - Flight control actuators
What happens if all primary and secondary flight control computers fail?
Aircraft goes into back up mode. An analog computer is used, with direct control of the
horizontal stabilizer and spoilers through the pitch trim and rudder pedals.
The back-up mode uses internal sensors.
How is roll controlled in back up mode law?
Using 2 spoilerons
Will you have elevators if you are in back up law? How is pitch controlled?
No. The system uses the horizontal stabilizer.
Are all primary and secondary flight computers active at all times?
Yes
If we loose all 3 primary flight control computers, what law does the airplane go into?
Direct law. Only direct law is available with the secondary flight control computers.
What happens if you release he stick going above a 35 degree roll angle?
Airplane returns to 35 degrees
What happensif sidestick is released to neutral below 35° of bank?
Airplane maintains the new bank angle
When is yaw manual trim available?
At all times
When is roll manual trim available?
Only in Direct law
The PFCS provides overspeed protection as well as stall protection even when the AutoPilot (AP) is not engaged. True or False?
True
What is the function of the sidestick priority push button?
The sidestick priority pushbutton allows the crew members to select whether the left pilot, or the right pilot, or both control the airplane.
What happens if both pilots use the side stick in the same or opposite direction at the same time?
Both pilots inputs are algebraically summed. In this case, an aural message “DUAL INPUT” and a tactile warning notifies the crew members of a both pilots flying situation.
If the priority pushbutton is pressed for more than 30 seconds the PFCS will latch the current priority state, allowing the priority pushbutton to be released without losing priority. True or False?
True
Can you reactivate a deactivated sidestick?
Yes a deactivated stick can be reactivated by momentarily pressing its priority pushbutton.
What happens to the autopilot if you move the sidestick pretty hard?
Autopilot will disconnect
What happens to the autopilot if you press a sidestick priority pushbutton?
Autopilot will disconnect
The FCS test must be done with parking brake set and both engines running. True or False?
True
What happens if the inboard slats are extended and you exceed an AOA of 26 degrees?
Inboard slats are retracted
If you are using back up slats switch, which slats will extend?
Outboard and middle only
Can retract slats after using backup slats switch?
Yes. Just reset the switch.
What kind of flaps do we have?
Double slotted
How many flaps per wing?
2
The flaps can only be extended after the outboard and middle slat sections have been fully deployed. True or False?
True
