Contributing factors to Pressure Sores

A
  • Impaired sensation
  • Inability to make appropriate positional changes (most important)
  • Loss of vasomotor control
  • Spasticity
  • Skin maceration
  • Moisture / Urine
  • Trauma
  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • poor general skin condition
  • Secondary infections
  • Inability for pt to be independent with self-direction of care secondary to: poor clinical education by staff
  • Possible impairment as a result of a TBI component
