Onset:

- May be rapid or gradual
- Can occur between ages of 20 and 40, usually 50

Etiology:
A
Unknown: may be infectious, autoimmune, genetic or combination of factors

Diagnosis:
A
- Requires evidence of multiple neurologic attacks with remissions and exacerbations
- Visual problems and mild parasthesias usually noticed first
- Diagnosis is assisted by SCF analysis, imaging studies (plaques) and evoked potential testing (reduced conduction/ slowing velocity
