Cocaine Intoxication
Schedule II
- dilated pupil, high HR, high energy
- cardiac toxicity (especially when mixed with EtOH) d/t cocaethylene byproduct
- do not give BB (MI risk)
Methamphetamine Intoxication
- high HR, high energy, elevated body temperature, decreased appetite
- can be pruritis/picking and poor dentition “meth mouth”
- note EtOH OD more likely with meth co-ingestion because meth decreases EtOH depressant activity
Bath Salts Intoxication
Schedule I
- high HR, high BP, increased sociability
Amphetamine Toxicity
what is tx?
agitation, confusion, tremor
high BP, high HR, high RR, high body temp, dilated pupils
diaphoretic, combative, repetitive movements
Lorazepam / BZD
Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome
nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
diaphoretic, anxious, watery discharge from both eyes, rhinorrhea, dilated pupils
Opioid Toxicity / OD
pinpoint pupils, altered mental status, low RR
elevated creatinine phosphokinase
caffeine toxicity (fatality possible)
tachycardia
seizure, vomiting
hyponatremia, hypokalemia
hyperglycemia
BZD OD
CNS depression, normal vitals
stimulation of GABA receptors
alcoholic hepatitis
- sudden onset jaundice, bili>3
- AST/ALT >2
- AST & ALT 1.5x, but <400
