Preparation for clinical practice - Heart rates, ECGs Flashcards
What is Ventricular fibrillation?
Occurs in the ventricles, which are unable to pump blood out of the heart due to the irregular heartbeat.
What is bradycardia?
A slow heart rate (less than 60 BPM)
What is atrial flutter?
A single electrical impulse that travels rapidly in the left or right atrium
What is Atrial fibrillation?
Occurs in the upper chambers of the heart when many unstable electrical impulses misfire
What is Supraventricular tachycardia?
occurs in the upper chambers of your heart
What is Ventricular tachycardia?
occurs in the lower chambers
What is Tachycardia?
heart is beating too fast
What are the 5 P’s before defibrillation?
Piercings
Perspiration
Patches
Pendant
Pacemaker
What is the normal breathing rate?
12-20 breaths per minute
