These provide evaluation or reviews of works published in scholarly journals
REVIEWS
These are personal researches written by a candidate for a college or university degree.
THESIS/ DISSERTATIONS
typically formal. They have a clearly structured introduction, body, and conclusion. They also include information from credible sources which are, in turn, properly cited. They also include a list of references used in developing the academic paper
STRUCTURE OF ACADEMIC TEXTS
include concepts and theories that are related to the specific discipline they explore. It usually exhibits all the properties of a well written text, like unity, organization, coherence, and cohesion.
CONTENT AND STYLE OF ACADEMIC TEXTS
helps you to identify the key arguments presented by the author and analyze
concepts presented in the text.
CRITICAL READING (reflective reading)
- Writing that is being practiced in the academe (universities, workplaces, and higher institutions)
- Refers to style of expression that researchers use to define the intellectual boundaries of their disciplines and specific areas
ACADEMIC WRITING
- Clarity of purpose, thesis statement, the relevance of its supporting details, knowledge on the subject matter.

- Something to do with the organization of ideas or thoughts
- Adding sentences, removing words/sentences you don’t need, move a word,
substitute words for new ones
Revise
- More on the technical aspect like grammar and other technicalities in writing
- Capitalizations, usage of correct verbs and nouns, punctuations, spelling
