Direct discrimination
Where a person is treated less favourably than another person because if the protected characteristic
Indirect discrimination
Where a rile or policy that applies to everyone but disadvantages a particular protected characteristic. (Clean shaven - religion)
Associative discrimination
Discrimination against someone because they are associated with someoneo who possess a protected characterisic.
Discrimination by preception
Thinking someone has a particular protectd characterisitic and discriminating agains them.
Harassment
Where a person engages in unwanted conduct, creates an intimidating, hostile ot offensice enviornment in relation to a protected charactersitic
Victimisation
When someone treats another badly because they are taking part in or are thought to be taking part in a complaint or grievance related to the equality act
Classical management school advantages
Commission and bonuses are often used as rewards to motivate staff as finance is seen as primary motivator.
High level of supervision reduces errors and slacking.
Hierarchical structures provide clear promotional pathways which motivates staff to work hard which can help retain competent staff
Decision making can be quick due to automatic management style. Less confusion in the workplace as managers make all key decisions
Classical management disadvantages
Workers are treated like machines which is demotivating could result in high staff turnover and absenteeism
Workers have no say in how to do their job which discourages initiative and ideas
Power is with management which is intimidating and stressfull staff may not feel values decrease job satisfaction
