Practical- Neuro Anatomy Flashcards
Globus pallidus
Lateral geniculate nucleus
Function of lateral geniuclate nucleus
Thalamic relay center for vision
Function of medial geniuclate nucleus
Thalamic relay station for auditory sense
-relays info btwn inferior colliculus (of the tectum) and the auditory cortex (in the lateral fissure)
Insula
Nucleus accumbens
Fornix
Amygdala

Nucleus accumbens

Marginal branch of the cingulate gyrus

Left side of image: crus of fornix, lateral ventricle, superior colliculus, cerebral aqueduct, basilar pons
Rightside of image: caudate, thalamus, medial geniculate body, lateral geniculate body, tail of caudate, inferior horn of lateral ventricle, hippocampus

Paracentral lobule

Postcentral gyrus
- not the superior frontal sulcus running vertically back from anterior and hitting the precentral sulcus, then central sulcus right behind the precentral sulcus
- also note the symmetric and large marginal branch of the cingulate gyrus which is just posterior to the central gyrus

Anterior cerebral arteries
- this far anterior the arteries (despite being inferior) are the anterior (not the posterior) cerebral arteries
- PCA would be much more dorsal
