Q

Difference between a plant and animal cell in a Hypotonic solution?

A

In a hypotonic solution, the solute concentration is lower outside of the cells than inside of the cells. As a result water wants to rush into both plant and animal cells, but because animal cells do not have a cell wall they can only hold so much before they burst.. The plant cell will restrict how much water the plant cell can take in without bursting

Q

Difference between a plant and animal cell in a Hypertonic Solution?

A

In a hypertonic solution, water rushes out of both plant and animal cells. Both plant and animal cells become dehydrated, shrivel up, shrink, and lose all function until restored back to hypotonic or isotonic conditions
