PR S 40009 Flashcards
Disconnection of signalling equipment
when can you begin disconnecting signalling apparatus
once you and the signaller have both filled and signed the IBA
When would you need Civil to jointly sign the IBA
when rails, points or crossings are removed, replaced or repaired.
What is required to be in place before any disconnections
ensure required handsignallers are in place
what must be sourced before disconnections commence
the lastest up to date copies of circuit diagrams and documentation
If the documentation is in doubt, what must be conducted
a correlation check of the circuit to be disconnected.
what is the preference for disconnections of relays and devices.
the disconnections are to be in the same location as the relays or devices being disconnected otherwise two points of disconnection are required.
how do you ensure there is no parallax error
correlate and recheck the number, names and racks before disconnection.
what must be checked with the signaller after booking equipment back in
checking that the affected equipment is working properly and displayed correctly on their panel.
what needs to be happen if disconnections are left unattended
the disconnecting pins and fuses are to be placed in a bag with a job number and contact details with a list of the disconnections and the disconnections to be fitted with dummy plugs.
when is signalling equipment considered disconnected from the interlocking
when the disconnection affects the integrity provided by the interlocking for the safety of train movements.
for example, signal lights or level crossing protection equipment.
how is signalling apparatus disabled
removing fuses or pins,
unplugging coded plug couplers,
turning off circuit breakers, isolating switches or air cocks
How are signals disconnected
Removal of the positive or negative leg to the lowest aspect control relay and then the positive or negative leg to the higher aspect control relays.
the signal in the rear requires the positive or negative leg disconnected to the higher aspects if the control circuits are not double cut.
the relevant trainstop shall also be made inoperable by remove of motor fuse or air.
disconnection of routes is permissable.
disconnection of mechanical levers for signals and points
disconnect the lever (points and FPL) catch rod pin, apply a sleeve to the lever.
for signals only slacken off the wire adjust or GNR wheel for the distant signals
situations that points are required to be disconnected.
point lock not effective,
detection not in correct adjustment,
point switches not in correct position,
can be incorrectly released.
what two physical assurances must be applied to disconnected points
a falcon 8 lock to releasing switch cabinets and a clip and SL/XL lock to the points and spike the points
what must be done in addition to the normal disconnections to work on the channel iron
the plunger must be wired in to physically and securely lock the points.
disconnection of D84M
Motor control fuses for both ends, Isolating switches for both ends.
Clip and SL lock.
Falcon 8 on EOL.
disconnection of E, S and ES EP points
the plunger fuse to be removed and the air is to be isolated at all ends.
Disconnection of modified E, S and ES EP points
removal of the circuit fuse for the opposite solenoid.
disconnection of T style EP points
removal of the circuit fuse for the opposite solenoid. removal of air to the opposite side
Disconnection of A style points
Disconnection of circuit fuse for the opposite control solenoid and removal of the air slide valve for the opposite side.
disconnection of level crossing with EMR
no disconnections required. book out level crossing. arrange for handsignallers. confirm no rail traffic is approaching on use of the EMR
disconnection of level crossing without EMR
fuse for the XR, fuse for the Up or Down road control relays (whichever is affected), fuse for the road boom motors, fuse for the pedestrian gates if applicable, fuse for the Up and Down direction sticks. the protecting signals to be booked out and disconnected.
arrange for handsignaller.
disconnection of electric locks and releasing switches
operating circuit fuse and negative leg to be disconnected.
