What is Section 17 PACE
Entry for Arrest
The power to arrest for - Warrants Indictable offences Specified offences Pursuit of offender unlawfully at large Absconder from lawful authority Save life and limb
What is Section 18 PACE
Entry before Arrest
May enter and search any premises, occupied control by a person under arrest for an indictable offence, provided they have reasonable grounds for suspecting that there is evidence relation to that offence
Note
This power may not be exercised unless an officer of the rank of inspector or above have authorised in writing
Unless
A constable feels that is it necessary for an effective investigation prior to going to a police station
What is Section 19 PACE
Power of Seizure
A constable may seize anything which is on the premises if he has reasonable grounds for believing
(a) it has been obtained in consequence of the commission of an offence
(b) that it is necessary to seize it in order to prevent it being CLADD (concealed, lost, altered, damaged, destroyed)
What is Section 32 PACE
Premises Search
A constable may enter and search any premises where arrested for an indictable offence or where they have just been
RGB that evidence of that offence is in that premises
