POWERPLANT Flashcards
What 3 Things will cause BOTH igniters to come on?
AUTO RE-LIGHT (in flight)
Start Attempt. (In Flight)
Temperature < 0 degrees Celsius
Avoid engine start with:
10 KTS or Grater of tailwind.
If The engine rolls back at FL450 what happens?
FADEC will try to Relight the engine. If the Engine continues to roll back below 40% N2, the FADEC gives up and the engine flames out.
What will the FADEC abort an engine start for?
Hot Start
Hung Start
No Light-off
**FADEC will not abort a start for LOW OIL PRESSURE
**FADEC DOES NOT provide start protection In Flight.
Where can you find the check list to motor an engine?
QRC, START MALFUNCTION
The transient oil pressures (0-20 psi/20 seconds and 20-270/400 seconds)in the limitations section 9 of the AOM, mean what?
0-20 psi/20 seconds: the oil pressure must be above 20 psi within 20 seconds during start.
20-270/400 seconds: the oil pressure can remain between 20-44 psi, and 161-270 psi for 400 seconds. Normal psi range in flight is 45-160 psi
Why are you allowed to be at maximum thrust for 10 minutes (725 C), and only 5 minutes for takeoff (700 C), max continuous (680 C), and maximum climb thrust (680 C)?
Max takeoff thrust Is used for emergencies such as engine failure CFIT etc. anytime max thrust is used, it is counted as two cycles on the engine.
When starting the engines without a GPU, why does the engine that is started first go to 72% N2, when you start the second engine?
It helps protect the Starter Generator on the operating engine.
What powers the FADEC?
Before engine started, 28VDC
After engine Started, PMA or 28VDC, whichever provides more power
Which Channel of the FADECs are connected to the EMERGENCY BUS?
Channel A
Max Altitude for inflight engine start?
30,000 feet
If you use the #2 engine as a power source on the ground, how much fuel will you burn per hour?
200-280 lbs/hr
Engines Installed?
PW535E…. The “E” is for Embraer.
Thrust per engine?
3360#
What is ATR?
AUTOMATIC THRUST RESERVE.
