Q

If The engine rolls back at FL450 what happens?

A

FADEC will try to Relight the engine. If the Engine continues to roll back below 40% N2, the FADEC gives up and the engine flames out.

Q

What will the FADEC abort an engine start for?

A

Hot Start

Hung Start

No Light-off

**FADEC will not abort a start for LOW OIL PRESSURE
**FADEC DOES NOT provide start protection In Flight.

Q

The transient oil pressures (0-20 psi/20 seconds and 20-270/400 seconds)in the limitations section 9 of the AOM, mean what?

A

0-20 psi/20 seconds: the oil pressure must be above 20 psi within 20 seconds during start.

20-270/400 seconds: the oil pressure can remain between 20-44 psi, and 161-270 psi for 400 seconds. Normal psi range in flight is 45-160 psi

Q

Why are you allowed to be at maximum thrust for 10 minutes (725 C), and only 5 minutes for takeoff (700 C), max continuous (680 C), and maximum climb thrust (680 C)?

A

Max takeoff thrust Is used for emergencies such as engine failure CFIT etc. anytime max thrust is used, it is counted as two cycles on the engine.

Q

When starting the engines without a GPU, why does the engine that is started first go to 72% N2, when you start the second engine?

A

It helps protect the Starter Generator on the operating engine.

16
Q

When is ATR activated?

A

Difference of N1 greater than 20%

Loss of communication between both engines.

Both engines operating and both thrust levers positioned to MAX.

17
Q

How does ATR generate the extra thrust?

A

ECS VALVE CLOSES

18
Q

What cools the engine oil?

A

Fuel/Oil Heat Exchanger.

19
Q

What is the FMU?

A

FUEL METERING UNIT.

The FMU is required to control and to meter the fuel flow to the engine throughout the complete airplane operating envelope, performing: pressurization of fuel supply, regulation of burn fuel flow, division of primary and secondary flow, engine shutdown in normal circumstances, supply of motive fuel flow for airframe, prevention of discharge of fuel after engine shutdown, engine shutdown in shaft shear circumstances, and power supply for the FADEC.

20
Q

What would be an indication that ATR was activated by mistake?

A

Cabin Altitude climbing with airplane and popping of the ears. ECS valve closes with activation of ATR, thus preventing the cabin from pressurizing.

21
Q

During a DUAL ENGINE FAILURE, why does the QRH direct you to go to LO2 with the XFEED Knob?

A

Selecting LO2 will energize the number 1 Electric boost pump (only pump on EMER BUS), to provide positive fue pressure for start.
