OXYGEN Flashcards
Where Can you find the Minimum Oxygen Required for Dispatch
Normal checklist or AOM Chapter 9
If Oxygen SUPPLY CONTROL is in PAX AUTO, the passenger oxygen masks will automatically deploy when cabin pressure is what?
14,700 feet (plus or minus 300 feet) CABIN ALTITUDE.
(This number is derived from the 15,000 foot O2 FAR requirement)
What is the purpose of the Auto Dilution Valve on the CREW oxygen masks?
To conserve oxygen while wearing the mask due to 135/91 requirements. Open, the valve allows the crew member to breathe cabin air, thus conserving oxygen.
At what cabin altitude will the AUTO DILUTION valve close on crew mask?
8300 to 10000 feet CABIN ALTITUDE.
In case of Fire, the ADV must be manually closed.
Whenever the mask is inside the storage box, the ADV must be closed.
Normal Oxygen pressure operating range? (Pointer)
What do white and yellow mean?
GREEN Scale/Pointer, (pressure is equal to or above 1270 psi)
WHITE: advisory. Minimum O2 psi for dispatch must be checked. (O2 is between 600-1270 psi)
YELLOW: cautionary range (no dispatch), pressure is less than 600psi.
Normal Oxygen pressure operating range? (Digital Number)
What do green white and yellow mean?
Yellow dashes?
GREEN Scale/Pointer, (pressure is equal to or above 1270 psi)
WHITE: advisory. Minimum O2 psi for dispatch must be checked. (O2 is between 600-1270 psi)
YELLOW: cautionary range (no dispatch), pressure is less than 600psi.
YELLOW DASHES: invalid information or value out of the valid range.
If the Crew O2 mask is set to NORM, at what cabin altitude will you get 100% oxygen?
above 35,000 feet Cabin Altitude.
How big is the Oxygen tank? Is that displayed anywhere in cockpit?
77 cubic Feet.
Yes, the number 77 is displayed below the engine instruments under CABIN. It reads OXY/77 and the pressure next to it.
The OXY LO PRESS CAS message is caused by what?
Oxygen pressure is below accepted safety level
or
Oxygen Supply handle is pulled.
Where can you Find information about the EROS mask?
AOM chapter 8
Explain what happens in the 3 positions of the SUPPLY CONTROL knob on the oxygen control panel
CREW ONLY?
PAX AUTO?
PAX OVRD?
CREW ONLY- Oxygen is routed only to the crew oxygen masks.
PAX AUTO- Oxygen to Crew oxygen masks and passenger masks. Passenger masks will automatically drop at 14700’ (+/- 300feet) cabin altitude. Oxygen flows to passenger masks when they are pulled to the face which removes the release pin. Once at a safe altitude and O2 is no longer needed you can select CREW ONLY to conserve the remaining oxygen.
PAX OVRD- Deploys oxygen masks manually. With PAX OVRD selected and the OXYGEN supply handle pushed, oxygen pressure deploys all masks (no power required). Always preflight the oxygen panel left to right, ensuring PAX AUTO is selected.
In the CREW ONLY position, the rotary switch in the oxygen panel will direct Oxygen only to the crew masks. Is there a CAS message associated with the switch being in this position?
YES “OXY SWITCH NOT AUTO”
Is the oxygen pressure gauge reading in the forward left baggage compartment compensated for Temperature?
NO
Is the Oxygen pressure indication on the MFD (EICAS) temperature compensated?
YES
