PowerMax and VMAX All Flash Solutions Design (SRDF Initial Setup Operations) Flashcards
What does the symcfg list –ra all command do?
shows the remote adapters and ports used for both arrays
What is the symsan command used for in SRDF?
to discover and display SRDF connectivity between the arrays
helps in situations where SRDF groups have not yet been created between the storage array pairs
What is required to create the first Dynamic SRDF Group?
full serial number of the remote array
only last few digits of remote array needed for any subsequent groups
What does the symrdf addgrp command do?
creates an empty Dynamic SRDF Group on the source and target arrays and logically links them
physical links and communication between arrays must exist for command to work
What does the symcfg list -rdfg all command do?
outputs detailed information about the configured SRDF Groups
What does the symrdf deletepair command do?
deletes SRDF pairs
must suspend SRDF links before issuing command
What does the symrdf removegrp command do?
deletes SRDF Groups
group must be empty before being deleted
What does the symrdf list pd command do?
outputs a list of all the SRDF devices accessible to the host
What is the rule for running SYMCLI on SRDF?
when performing SRDF/S operations commands can be run for all devices in a group or subset
for SRDF/A operations the commands should be run for all devices in a group
What is SRDF/AC?
adaptive copy
designed to transfer large amounts of data without loss of performance
How does SRDF/AC work?
allows the R1 and R2 devices to be more than one IO out of synchronization
unlike asynchronous mode adaptive copy does not guarantee a dependent write consistent copy of data to R2 device
What are Dell’s recommendation when using SRDF/AC?
use adaptive copy disk mode to transfer the bulk of you data to target devices
then switch to synchronous mode to ensure full data protection or asynchronous mode to ensure full data consistency
recommended since SRDF/AC can’t fully protect against data loss
What is SRDF/Metro?
writes can be done to both sides of the device pair
data must be stored in cache on both sides before an acknowledgement is sent to the host that wrote the data
What does the ymrdf set mode command do?
changes the SRDF operation mode
