A
  • Origin: lower media facet of lateral section of the ischial tuberosity
  • Insertion: medial surface of medial condyle of tibia
    Movements
  • hip extensor
  • flexion of knee
  • if knee is semiflexed = medial rotation of knee
  • if fixed foot, lateral rotator of the femur + pelvis on tibia

Semimembranosus (MEDIAL)

A
  • Origin: upper lateral facet of ischial tuberosity
  • Insertion: horizontal groove, on the posteromedial surface of the medial tibial condyle
    Movements
  • hip extensor
  • flexion of knee
  • if knee is semiflexed = medial rotation of knee
  • if fixed foot, lateral rotator of the femur + pelvis on tibia

  • Origin: (inferomedial impression of) ischial tuberosity, sacrotuberous ligament
  • Insertion: (Lateral aspect of) head of fibula

  • extend hip joint
  • flexing knee joint

  • Insertion: (Lateral aspect of) head of fibula (LYING SUPERFICIALLY TO IT)
