Potserior thigh muscles Flashcards
1
Q
Semitendinosus (MEDIAL)
A
- Origin: lower media facet of lateral section of the ischial tuberosity
- Insertion: medial surface of medial condyle of tibia
Movements - hip extensor
- flexion of knee
- if knee is semiflexed = medial rotation of knee
- if fixed foot, lateral rotator of the femur + pelvis on tibia
2
Q
Semimembranosus (MEDIAL)
A
- Origin: upper lateral facet of ischial tuberosity
- Insertion: horizontal groove, on the posteromedial surface of the medial tibial condyle
Movements - hip extensor
- flexion of knee
- if knee is semiflexed = medial rotation of knee
- if fixed foot, lateral rotator of the femur + pelvis on tibia
3
Q
Long head of biceps femoris (LATERAL)
A
- Origin: (inferomedial impression of) ischial tuberosity, sacrotuberous ligament
- Insertion: (Lateral aspect of) head of fibula
Movements - extend hip joint
- flexing knee joint
- knee semiflexed, rotates leg laterally on the thigh
4
Q
Short head of biceps femoris (LATERAL)
A
- Origin: linea aspera of femur (lateral lip), lateral supracondylar line of femur
- Insertion: (Lateral aspect of) head of fibula (LYING SUPERFICIALLY TO IT)
Movements - flexing knee joint
- knee semiflexed, rotates leg laterally on the thigh
