Medial thigh muscles Flashcards
1
Q
Pectineus
A
- Origin: superior pubic ramus (pectineal line of pubis) + pubic tubercle
- Insertion: pectineal line of femur + linea aspera
Movements - hip flexion + adduction
- possible medial rot
2
Q
Adductor longus
A
- Origin: just below medial end of the obturator crest on anterior aspect of the body of the pubis
- Insertion: middle two-quarters of the linea aspera
Movements - adductor of thigh
- can flex the extended thigh + extend the flexed thigh
3
Q
Adductor brevis
A
- Origin: lateral part of the front of the body + inferior ramus of the pubis
- Insertion: upper half of linea aspera anterior to adductor magnus
Movements - adductor of thigh
4
Q
Adductor magnus (adductor + hamstring parts)
A
- Origin: femoral surface of the ischiopubic ramus + lateral part of inferior surface of ischial tuberosity
- Insertion: linea aspera + greater trochanter + medial supracondylar ridge + adductor tubercle
Movements - adductor of hip joint
- posterior portion = aids in hip extension
- rotation?
5
Q
Gracilis
A
- Origin: front of the body of the pubis + its inferior ramus just encroaching onto the ramus of the ischium
- Insertion: short vertical line on the upper part of the medial surface of the shaft of the tibia
Movements - adduction of thigh
- flexion of knee
- knee semiflexed, aids medial rot
