Q
Sartorius
A
- Origin: ASIS + area just below
- Insertion: vertical line on the medial side of the shaft of the tibia anterior to both semitendinosus + gracilis
Movements - flexion of the hip + knee,
- lateral rot. + abduction of the thigh
- medial rot. of the tibia on the femur
TAILOR SITTING POSITION
2
Q
Rectus femoris
A
- Origin: two heads continuous w/ each other, one to the anterior inferior iliac spine (the straight head) + the other to a rough area immediately above the acetabulum (the reflected head)
- Insertion: upper border of the patella
Movements - extends knee
- flexes thigh
3
Q
Vastus medialis
A
- Origin: lower medial end of the intertrochanteric line , running inferiorly around the medial aspect of the upper end of the shaft on the spiral line , medial lip of the linea aspera , continuing on to the upper two-thirds of the medial supracondylar line , medial intermuscular septum + tendon of adductor magnus
- Insertion: tendon of rectus femoris, medial border of the patella + front of the medial condyle of the tibia
Movements - extends knee
4
Q
Vastus intermedius
A
- Origin: upper two-thirds of the anterior + lateral surfaces of the femur
- Insertion: deep surface of the tendon of rectus femoris, the other vastus muscles + the base of the patella
Movements - extends knee
5
Q
Vastus lateralis
A
- Origin: upper lateral part of the intertrochanteric line , lower border of the greater trochanter, lateral side of the gluteal tuberosity + upper half of the lateral lip of the linea aspera
- Insertion: tendon inserts into the tendon of rectus femoris + base + lateral border of the patella
Movements - extends knee
