Postural Assesment Flashcards
1
Q
Traits of lordotic position
A
abdominal muscles lengthened, hamstrings lengthened
erectors shortened, hip flexors shortened
anterior rotation of pelvis
2
Q
What is muscle imbalance due to
A
- muscle weakness
- asymetrical strength relationships
- changed muscle/length relation
3
Q
Common postural muscles
A
- pectoral, upper traps, quadrates lumborum, iliosoas, rectus femoris, hamstrings, gastrocnemius, errectors
4
Q
Common phasic muscles
A
lower traps, rhomboids, rectus abdomens, gluets, vestus medialus, lateralis, tibialis anterior
5
Q
What to do during postural examination
A
history- ask about repetitive tasks
- have patients perform activities that increase symptoms - ask about activities of daily living - ask about driving /sleeping/ working position - patient in relaxed posture, look from lateral view
6
Q
Lateral plumb line
A
ear, acromion process, mid thorax, greater trochanter, lateral femoral epicondyle, lateral maleolus
7
Q
traits of forward shoulder position and what does it lead to
A
- scapula in protracted pos.
- shortened pec minor
- increased thoracic kyphosis
- forward head posture
leads to- bicep tendonitis, impingement, scapular winging
