Origin: Manubrium and middle 1/3 of clavicle
Insertion: mastoid process
Innervation: Accessory nerve (CN 11)
Action: Unilateral it will flex head and neck laterally and rotate the head to the opp side
Bilaterally it will flex the lower cervical spine and extend AO joint
What is the origin, insertion, innervation, and function splenius capitis
Origin: spinous process C7-T3 and ligamentum nuchae
Insertion: mastoid process
Innervation: Posterior rami C1-C6
Action: ipsilateral rotation of the head and extension and lateral flex of spine and head

Action: Elevate 2nd rib and lateral flexion
