Youths can choose from different fashions, music tastes and identity stage same way as supermarket shoppers are offered numerous choices of food.

Youth subcultures are being replaced by neo tribes. A neo tribe is a range of groupings which share commitment to their communal ethic. Foundations of warmth and companionship. Neo tribes choose to be together for elective sociality- based simply on the desire to be together.

Researched clubs in new castle. Neo tribes were based around fashion and lifestyle and did not have shared values or feel that they belonged to a definable group. Can move from different neo tribes
