Skinheads resist capitalism!

Frequent assaults on Asian immigrants (paki bashing) who were seen as destroying communities and taking jobs

Wore an exaggerated version ,caricature and reassertion of solid, male ,working, class toughness. Cropped hair, braces, half mast jeans, doc martens, reaction to decline of working class communities .

Theory is still relevant - chavs evident a subculture linked to working class

Suggest middle Class subcultures don’t exist as not victims of capitalism-but hippies!

Youth subcultures provide a magical solution for the plight of working class because they do nothing to alter power and economic differences but provide an illusion of a way out for working class youth.
Each generation uses subcultures to
Convince themselves that they are different, and won't be like they're parents but they aren't and do!
