Q

When there are mutliple witnesses at the scene what should be done to preserve all evidence and what type of evidence can cause an investigation to be scrutinised

A
  • All witnesses should be identified
  • they should be seaparated from one another
  • they should be informed of the importance of not talking and associating with anyiione else from the scene
  • All witness details to be obtained and detailed notes of what they are wearing their demeanour and images taken of them at the scene
  • If they are to be transported to the station for a FWs they are to be transported in separate vehicles and also seaprated at the station.

the most common type of trace evidence transfer is the primary transfer. This is when trace evidence is passed on from one person to another and vice versa. But when a third party is involved then this is called secondary transfer. This can be seen as cross contamination and can be scrutinised in court at a later date or potentially jepodise the entire investigation. Most common forms of trace evidence is hair, fibres, paint.etc.
