Define ‘population’.
study of ways in which spatial variations in the composition, migration and growth relate to the nature of the places.
Define ‘exponential growth’.
pattern where growth rate constantly increases. (shown as a j curve)
Define ‘birth rate’.
amount of babies born per 1000th of the population per year.
Define ‘death rate’.
amount of people deaths per 1000th of the population per year.
Define ‘infant mortality’.
number of babies (out of every 1000 born alive) who die before their first birthday.
Define ‘carrying capacity’.
maximum number of people the environment of an area can sustainably support.
Define ‘optimum population’.
population is such that it maximises the benefits from the resources available.
Define ‘overpopulation’.
when resources can’t sustain the current population.
Define ‘density’.
amount of people in a given area.
Define ‘PUSH factors’. Give an example.
