- Non-specific symptoms
- Suspect if over 50 with bilateral, severe and persistent pain in neck, shoulders and pelvic girdle
- Morning stiffness of more than 45 minutes
- Raised ESR and/or CRP

- Glucocorticoids, reducing dose
- Osteoporosis prophylaxis if high dose
