inflammatory condition that causes pain and stiffness in the shoulders, pelvic girdle and neck

who gets polymyalgia rheumatica?
A
older adults >50 and more common in females

symptoms in polymyalgia rheumatica? (4)
A
bilateral shoulder pain with/without pelvic girdle
worse with movement
stiff in the morning (at least 45mins)
interferes with sleep

systemic symptoms?
A
weight loss
fatigue
low fever
low mood

investigations?
A
FBC LFTs Ca serum protein electrophoresis rheumatoid factor creatine kinase

treatment?
A
prednisolone 15mg/day
18-24 months
bone prophylaxis
