Vote of confidence
Vote showing that a majority continues to support the policy of a leader or governing body
Weak state
No structure or control, or US because separation of powers = no decisions made
Zero sum game
Each participant gain is exactly balanced by the losses of the other participants
Coinciding cleavage
Two cleavages that occur at the same time
Crosscutting cleavage
A person believes two things usually cutting across candidate lines
Conflicting political culture
Groups have opposing beliefs or viewpoints
Consensual political culture
All citizens believe the same thing
Foreign direct investments
Investment made in a factory in a different country than one’s own
Linkage institutions
Connects people to the government or a centralized authority
Interest group pluralism
Open competition, one who has strong political position
Political efficacy
Citizen’s faith and trust in the government
Presidential system
President is the head of state and government he’s elected separately from legislator
Procedural democracy
Citizens have less influence little competition and few civil rights
Substantive democracy
election represents the people
Unitary state
Governed as one single power in which the central government is you ultimately supreme
