16
Q

If MR is running low around 700 kPa what do you do

A

Check towing cock to see if it is in rescue position

Check compressors running

17
Q

What do you do if you have MR leak in cars 1,2 or 5,6

A

Locate, attempt to blank

Isolate MR end cocks

Train disabled

18
Q

What happens to brakes when MR isolated?

A

EP brakes will not operate on those cars

19
Q

If a Siemens train is assisting a disabled train with MR isolated how would they couple?

A

Electrically

20
Q

If MR isolated in the leading cars where will rescue come from?

A

Advance

21
Q

If MR isolated in the trailing cars where will rescue come from?

A

The rear

22
Q

What do you have to do to the leading cab in a train rescue

A

Bypass safety loop

23
Q

When MR isolated what do you have to do to defective cars?

A

Isolate bogies and release spring park brakes

24
Q

If you have a MR leak on car 3 or 4 what do you do?

A

RTA, PA, TC, full cab unattended

Close MR ICs at both ends

Manually release park brakes
(Isolate bogies??)

Isolate safety loop in lead cab

Drive as per equip isolated

Detrain passengers at first station, shunt to first siding

25
Q

What indication will you get if you lose an air compressor?

A

Compressor fault.

Fault location- first or second unit

26
Q

What do you do if you lose one air compressor?

A

Monitor MR pressure to ensure remains above 600

TMM

27
Q

What do you do if MR pressure drops below 600?

A

Safety loop would open

Inform TC and request permission to perform TRAIN STABLE.

If train stable effective submit TMM

28
Q

If MR has dropped below 600 because of air compressor fault and train stable didn’t fix what do you do?

A

Turn compressor pressure switch to isolate position.

Air compressor runs continuously.

29
Q

If turning compressor pressure switch didn’t fix what happens?

A

Train disabled

30
Q

Why would you need to isolate a sander?

A

Major damage to sander unit

Air leak causing low MR affecting safe operation of train

31
Q

How does Siemens whistle work?

A

Solenoid valve requires electric signal.

32
Q

If whistle sounding continuously what do you do?

A

Operate lever several times

Trip and reset - DC-DC Inverter Front Light/Wiper CB

If this doesn’t work turn IC in panel to left of driver seat

33
Q

If whistle not sounding what do you do?

A

Operate lever several times

Ensure IC is open and retest

If still doesn’t work trip and reset :
Windscreen wiper Horn CB
DC-DC Inverter Front Light/Wiper CB
