What do you do if one or more pantographs fail to raise?

A

Check Panto Control CB in driving cab

Check Panto Motor CB in affected driving cab

If either tripped, reset and push Panto Up button

If CB set and pantos fail to raise, try another cab, or operate manually (RHS door 2, 2nd panel)

A

Check if they will raise from another motor

If they don’t - Train Stable from leading motor

Wait 1 minute

  • Trip Panto Motor CB
  • Raise lead panto manually (RHS door 2, 2nd panel)
  • Press Panto Up button
  • Reset Panto Motor MCB

A

Check Train Stable HSCB & Light Control MCB in local driving cab

If tripped - reset
If set - trip and reset

Check Shutdown Delay CB in T Car

If tripped - reset
If set - trip and reset

If you have checked Train Stable, HSCB & Light Control MCB and Shutdown Delay CB and Pantos still won’t lower what do you do?

A

Trip TCU CB as it is possible the TCU doesn’t realise the train is stationary

If tripped - set and press Stable button

if set, press Stable button

If pantos still don’t lower leave them in raised position and book TMM

What do you do if Pantos fail to lower when Panto Down button is pressed?

A

Check Panto Motor CB in affected motor

if tripped - set and Panto down button

if set - try Panto down button again. If they don’t lower leave up for fitters to inspect

How do you isolate a pantograph?

A

Master key switch OFF

Train Stable button

Trip Panto Motor on affected cab

Lower with crank handle if required

Master key IN and ON

Press Panto Up button

Ensure defective panto remains lowered
