1
Q

what is a GANTT chart?

A

provides a visual of what needs to be done and when. excellent for tracking schedules because you can see interdependencies between tasks. NOT EFFECTIVE WHEN THERE IS A HIGH NUMBER OF ACTIVITIES.

Q

what are the 4 types of relations/ interdependencies?

A

FS: one task must finish before another can start, most common
SS: several tasks can begin simultaneously
FF: a task cannot end until the previous one is completed
SF: least common task relationship, one task cannot end until another has started (shift work)

Q

benefits of GANTT

A

break down a project in to manageable tasks
easily view dependencies and relationships
visualize and monitor the progress of tasks over time
identify a critical path

Q

what is critical path analysis (CPA)?

A

used to identify activities on a critical path. breaks a project into tasks, displays them in a flow chart, and then calculates the project duration based on estimated time frames.

Q

disadvantages of CPA

A

reliability is based on accurate estimates and assumptions
does not guarantee success of a project
resources may not be as flexible as planned

Q

what is a PERT chart?

A

Program Evaluation and Review Technique
they map the project roadmap ahead. graphical representation of a project’s timeline, tasks, and the dependencies between those tasks.

Q

what is the formula for the estimated expected duration of a project?

A

E = (O + 4M + P) / 6
E= estimated expected time O= optimistic time P= pessimistic time M= most likely time
