Pluralism

A

Intro
3 views. What is meant by good

Exclusivism
Not true as u have to be a good Christian -> some cases denomination -> through Christ as the mediator John 14:6 ‘No one comes to the father except through me’ -> Jesus God incarnate -> Jesus founded church -> Catholic Church only rays of truth -> HOWEVER rays of truth why can’t be saved also -> Omnibenevlont challenge -> people before Christianity?

Inclusivism better -> supports question -> some non Christian’s that are anonymous Christian’s can be saved -> as long as good and open to gods grace-> saves people born before Christianity-> prevents naive non omnibenevolent God -> can’t be punished for trying to seek truth (Paul at the altar) -> Christian God worshipped without realising -> HOWEVER, naive to say that islam is anonymous Christianity with no benefits of their own -> little importance to the Church -> once encountering the Christian message if u reject no longer anonymous Christian

Hicks pluralism -> protects all religions -> Elephant ->expression of faith depends on ur lens -> Copernican revolution shift from Christianity at the centre to the realization that it is God who is at the centre -> HOWEVER

Q

All good people will be saved

A

The sheep and the goats teaches that we will be charged on our actions the rich man and Lazarus suggests those that are not charitable will not be saved

God loves all people made in his image and would never leave those who have tried to pursue truth behind from any background of life

The earliest traditions found in the earliest gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke seem to put more emphasis on actions than faith, which could suggest that the emphasis in Jesus’s message has been lost

Q

Not all good people will be saved

A

If people are to be saved, according to the Christian faith, they need to have both faith and good worked in their lives

It could be argued that you are not truly good, unless you follow the right spiritual or religious way of life

Nobody deserves to be saved (Romans 3:23 ‘ all have sinned and fall short’) either due to the fall or free will in general. God’s love is tough love and doesn’t necessarily mean will be saved.
