A
-MC has limited sentencing powers;
-faster, cheaper;
-less stringent disclosure requirements on the defence - no requirement for a defence statement;
-more favourable appeal routes;
-less publicity.

What is the case for PBV regarding low-value shoplifting?
A
Low-value shoplifting is a summary only offence (MC) but if pleading not guilty, D can still elect trial by jury in the CC.
