PLAX Doppler Protocol Flashcards
What is the Image order of review for PLAX doppler?
- 2D image first
- Colour (tells you if it is leaking or stenosis (qualitative))
- Spectral: Quantifies both normal and abnormal flows in the heart (quantitative)
What are some Doppler images we get in PLAX base? 2
- AV colour
- MV colour
What is the images we get in TV view for doppler? 2
- TV color
- TV CW
What PV view images do we get in doppler? 3
- PV color
- RVOT PW
- PV CW
During PLAX color AV what are trying to assess? 2
- Aortic stenosis (increased velocities travelling toward the probe)
- Aortic regurgitation/ insufficiency (AI)
How should we set up PLAX color AV? 5
- Focus mid
- FR 20 Hz + long and lean
- AV centered
- Color box should cover all the any from LVOT to AV leaflet tips
- Sweep and assess for AR/AS (aliasing)
What is the PLAX color MV view good for assessing? 2
- Mitral regurgitation jets heading back into the atrium (blue)
- Jets are often eccentric and better in line with this view
How do we set up a PLAX color MV? 5
- Focus mid
- FR 20 Hz + long and lean
- MV centered
- Both leaflets tips clearly seen
- Sweep and assess for MR
What is the most common use of color on the TV PLAX color?
Assess regurgitation.
TR, or backward flow will be travelling _____ from the probe and appear ______
Away and blue
How should we set up a PLAX color TV? 5
- Focus mid
- FR 20 Hz
- TV centered
- Both leaflets clearly seen
- Sweep and assess for TR
Is PLAX TV Pw common?
Nope
The main purpose of TV CW image is to do what?
Quantify TR
How should we align the cursor aligned for PLAX TV CW?
Cursor aligned in the middle of the middle of the TR jet or TV if not seen
How should we set up a PLAX TV CW? 2
- Scale below baseline
- Gains adjustment
( to dark = lost in for and too bright = estimimation)
