Indications for laceration repairs with tissue adhesive? Contraindications?
A
- For repair of superficial lacerations < 4 cm in length and <0.5 cm in width
- Clean wounds in which edges can be easily approximated
Contraindications:
- Wounds in which dehiscence is likely to occur (near a joint)
- Scalp, eyebrow, eyelid
- Crossing mucocutaneous junctions

When should non-absorbable sutures be removed?
A
Dependent on location: highly vascularized areas heal quicker
Neck: 3-4 days Face & scalp: 5 days U/E & trunk: 7-10 days L/E: 7-10 days Joint surface: 10-14 days

What is the management of paronychia?
A
Paronychia = infection of proximal nail fold
- if there is no abscess and just erythema and swelling, can give Keflex x 7 days and use warm soaks in saline water x 10 mins TID
- if abscess: incision and drainage! Only need to add PO keflex if severe infection
