Plant Physiology Flashcards
Plant growth
an interaction between internal factors and the environment
Differences in height :
is based on growth condition not genetic infromation
Crucial part in plant growth:
nutrition uptake from the soil
calc, iron, nitrogen, potassium , phosphate, magnesium
effect of fertilizer and nutrient deficiency
higher nutrient levels in soil increase plant growth
serpentine rock
rock from volcano that has low everything for plants nutrient
Growing Periods
Annual- 1 year
biennial - 2 years ( 1 year growth then 2 year flowers adn seed develop)
perennial - lives more than two years
phyto hormones
are signal molecules produced within plants
Photosynthesis
maybe the most important biochemical reaction on planted earth
translocation
transport from source to sink ( through the phloem system )
