Plant cells Flashcards
Are plant cells prokaryotic or eukaryotic?
plant cells are eukaryotic
Cell wall
Strengthens and supports the cell
How do plants get energy?
photosynthesis
What is photosynthesis?
When plants use energy from the sun to make food
Chloroplasts
Full of green chlorophyll which absorbs light so the plant can photosynthesise.
What part of the plant are chloroplasts found in and why?
The green parts because those are the parts that get sunlight. Having chloroplasts in roots makes no sense because they get no sunlight.
Permanent vacuole
A place in the cytoplasm filled with sap which keeps the cell rigid to support the plant.
What features do plant cells have that animal cells don’t?
-Permanent vacuole
-Cell wall
-Chloroplasts
