Charter flights
Flights that are operating with a sports team or group that have exclusive use of the aircraft and are isolated from the general public.
Board mail
Supplies, correspondence, equipment, etc sipped within the company to another department.
Crew resource management/ threat & error management (CRM/TEM)
Interaction of flight crew members with the use of team work and other skills to ensure standard procedures & communication signals are used at all times.
Continuing qualification (cq)
Annual training all flight attendants must attend. CQ flight attendants are reviewed & evaluated on all safety & security responsibilities.
Decompression
Either slow or rapid release of air pressure from the cabin.
Evacuation(evac)
Term used to describe the fastest and most orderly method to exit an aircraft in an emergency.
Extra section
An additional flight operating the same route as a regular scheduled flight, to accommodate customers
Ferry flight
A flight without customers to transfer the plane to new point.
Flight attendant operations manual (FAOM)
A manual for flight attendants containing regulations, standards, policies & procedures necessary to conduct a FA’s duties.
Gate
Where customers check-in and wait to board AC
Hangar
A building where AC is serviced
Holding
A flight that’s waiting to land or take-off
Hub
A large city where an airline connects customers. UA’s hubs: EWR IAH CLE ORD IAD DEN LAX SFO GUM & NRT
Inbound
Customers or AC flying into a station
Jetway
A walkway connecting the gate area. AKA jeT bridge or loading bridge
