Definition of Pilot Team
A deliberately structured organization comprised of SFODA members (likely augmented by interagency and other skilled personnel) designed to infiltrate a designated area to conduct PE activities and assess to the potential to conduct UW ISO US objectives.

USG establishes contact with representatives of the resistance org. to assess interests and objectives.
PT reception arranged (asset may infil w/ the PT to facilitate linkup)
PTO infiltration?
PT infils AO/ Links up w/RF
Conduct/ confirm feasibility assessment
If favorable; PT coordinates for LU with follow-on SF teams and supplies.
Time constrained - PT will verify fighters and facilities for follow-on SFOD-As
What does the PT do during planning/ preparation and execution? (2)
Complete and update the area assessment ISO expanding understanding of the OE.
Focus on the human terrain analysis both within and outside of the resistance to understand the degree of support for the resistance/UW effort
Type of support (3)
Indirect support (through a coalition partner or at a third-country location, normally limited to logistical aid and training, restrictive environment)
Direct support (expands support to logistics, training, advise and assist, may include advisors in sanctuaries or insurgent-controlled areas not in direct combat).
Combat support (all of the above + combat operations)
Civil Affairs? (3)
Refine area studies IOT further ID further ID factors affecting civil infrastructures within the UW operational area. (CA liaison w/ civil (shadow gov. vs gov in exile)
Conduct civil recon. and assessments of critical infrastructures (targeting and development)
CA use existing engagement programs as access platforms to civil information data, personal/ professional relationship
Psychological?
Evaluate indigenous information capabilities and aid in determination of level of support required to fully develop capabilities and increase operational effectiveness through social media outlets.
(Promote resistance/ undermine government control of the population)

Immediate - Initial Assessment?
Things essential to the SFOD-A immediately following infiltration. Must be satisfied as soon as possible upon arriving in the JSOA
1) Location and orientation
2) Physical conditions
3) Overall security to include the immediate area, attitude of the local populace, local enemy situation, status of the local resistance element.
