What are single-blind procedures?

  • Pps are not made aware of some details of investigation - e.g full aim or condition they are in - reduce demand characteristics

What is a pilot study?

A
  • a small scale version of the experiment/questonnaire/observation and will usually involve a small number of pps.
  • Aim is to check procedures, materials etc work, and to check if modifications need to be made

  • Neither pps not person conducting study knows aim of research - to reduce demand characteristics and investigator effects
