A
  • Iv is based on an existing difference between pps. No random allocation
  • Controlled conditions

What is a Natural experiment?

A
  • IV changes without experimentor’s intervention, reasearcher records effects on the DV.
  • No random allocation
  • Provides oppurtunities for research that otherwise may not be undertaken for ethical or practical reasons. High external validity
  • Naturally occurring event may only happen very rarely
