What is a pilot study
A
A small scale version of an investigation done before the real investigation

What is a single blind procedure
A
- The reseracher does not tell the participants if they are being given a test or control treatment. Only the investigator is aware
- this avoids demand characteristics

What is a double blind procedure
A
- Research where neither the participants or the investigator is aware of who is recieving a particular treatment
- reduces bias

What is a control group
A
- a baseline where results from the experimental condition can be compared to
- this means we can conclude whether the results were due to the IV or confounding variables
