Q

Unstructured + EVALUATE

A
  • unstructured = a continuous recording where the researcher writes everything they have observed
  • S = more richness of detail gathered
  • L = produce more qualititative data which is hard to analysis
  • greater risk of observer bias

Q

Structured

A
  • the researcher quantifies what they are observing in a pre determind list
  • S = easier
  • produces quantitative data which is easy to analyse
    L = - not as depthful detail

Time sampling

A
  • recording behaviour within a timeframe
  • S = reduces number of observations, easier

Q

Event sampling

A
  • counting how many times a behaviour is carried out
S = good for infrequent behaviour
L = difficult to judge when a behaviour occurs, important behaviour may be missed
