stable, able to tolerate PO, reliable for FU

Fails outpatient, unreliable for FU, unstable, tubo-ovarian abscess, pregnancy
complications of PID
infertility (15-24% with 1 episode secondary to gonorrhea/chlamydia)
7x risk ectopic
Chronic pelvic pain
most common pathogens associated with PID
neisseria gonorrheae and chlamydia trachomatis
