what part of the cervix is most vulnerable and why

A

transformation zone: border between metaplastic squamous epithelium and simple columnar epithelium

basically, the proliferating basal layer of metaplastic squamous epithelium is exposed and vulnerable to HPV infection

endocervix (simple columnar epithelium with mucous producing cells) –> ectocervix (stratified squamous epithelium)
