Physiology Of EKG Basics Flashcards
What does the P wave begin with?
Atrial depolarization and occurs from right to left
What is the QRS complex the beginning of?
Ventricular contraction starting at the septum
Occurs from right to left and from apex to base
What is the T wave a representation of?
Ventricular relaxation/repolarization
What is an atrial T wave not seen on an EKG?
Hidden by the QRS complex
What is the PR interval?
Beginning of P wave to R wave (or Q wave)
Difference of end point not noted
What is the PR segment?
End of P wave to Q wave
All atria are contracted
What is the ST segment?
End of S wave to beginning of T wave
All ventricle myocytes are contracting
What is the QT interval?
Q wave to end of T wave
What is the RR interval?
Periods between ventricular depolarizations
Used to determine HR
What is the location of leads II, III and aVF?
Inferior
What is the location for leads I, aVL, V5 and V6?
Lateral
What is the location for leads V1 and V2?
Anterior
What is the location for leads V3 and V4?
Septal
What indicates a sinus rhythm?
Presence of a P wave
