Physio - Nervous System Flashcards

1
Q

Describe the parts of a neuron

A
  1. Cell body - contains the nucleus
  2. Dendrites - structures that connect the cell body to other neurons to receive signals
  3. Axon - the tail of the neuron that is covered in an insulating sheath, transmitting signals
  4. Axon terminals
  5. Synapses - structures that convert electrical impulses into chemical signals and vise versa
